Stevens Street has provided a means of connecting with other believers as well as the opportunity to embrace fellowship as modeled in Acts 2:42-46. It is through this body of believers that the love of Jesus has become more real to us.

This capital campaign means that we can invite more families with young children and have them feel welcome, because our space is not overflowing or haphazard. Families that feel like their children are secure and in safe spaces are more likely to return with their children. We want to reach everyone who wants to attend without making them feel we don’t have the facilities to meet their needs.

Almost 20 years ago when we walked through the doors of Stevens Street Baptist Church, we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. We know that this church seeks the will of God first and foremost. We feel at home in this church and feel God’s love pressing out through the hearts of so many people. It is a joy to serve the Lord here.

Our connection to SSBC extends to three generations from our parents, Glyn and Joyce Gentry and Shirley Hanna to our children, Kourtney Smith and Kandace Matheney. We are eternally grateful our family found salvation at SSBC—Glyn was the only one saved at another rural church while Joyce, Kim and brother Ricky was saved at this church. I was saved at 19 while dating Kim. Our children were saved while young; my mother, Shirley, was saved as a Senior adult at SSBC. Arise and Tell will impact the salvation of children not yet born and adults that have yet to really hear how much God loves them.
